Journal Study: European picture books in the new millennium

I have been reading a journal found on academia.edu titled From baby books to picture books for adults: European picture books in the new millennium. The journal touches on several aspects of picture books that interest me such as taboo topics, open endings and the term crossover picture books which is a term I have never come across before. Several of these topics have been highlighted and shall be useful to pursue as further research. Another useful element of this journal are the books it mentions on taboo subjects. I have ordered some of these books as I am interested to see how other cultures are more open to such topics and how the works are interpreted by myself, some I may not be able to read but I want to see how evident the story is just through the images alone.
