Meh

Yesterday Deborah Malcolm visited Abertay to give a presentation about her book Meh. This was one of the project I worked on during the summer to turn the book into an app. Ewan and Michael gave a short talk on the app after Deborah had finished.
It was interesting to be able to see and hear about some of the processes Deborah went through whilst creating Meh as her final piece for hounders year. Also the fact that she appeared to have changed her mind several times and that the final idea for Meh came to her after xmas, after submitting proposals etc. Due to my involvement with the app I thought buying a copy of Meh would be like a little memento of the project. However I realised that the topics within Deborah's project were of a similar interest of areas to my own project. Firstly picture books, the use of metaphors, story etc are all areas that are interesting to me. This means that I will carry out a study of the book Meh as Deborah never actually told us exactly what she aimed for or what the characters represent during the time we made the app. I have also e-mailed Deborah asking for any suggested research items that helped or inspired her during the project. These may not directly influence my own project but they may highlight names, books aspects or opinions I have not encountered so far thus influencing my own research and project.
